Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts – Renovation
Renovation and additions to existing 54,000 SF facility with a 2,043-seat auditorium. Interior renovation and expansion of Stage House. Expanded lobby, concession areas and restrooms.

Rhythm Hall – Located in former Thalhimer’s
Versatile configuration with open setting and casual seating of up to 150 seats plus full catering kitchen. Features local performing artists and special events. Gathering place for pre- and post-performances at the Carpenter Center. Orchestra Level adjacent to Art Gallery.

Libby Gottwald Community Playhouse – Located in former Thalhimer’s
Intimate setting, flexible seating pattern to accommodate the individual needs of each production (200 seats). Performance hall quality acoustics. State-of-the-art lighting. Meeting and reception rooms. Available for corporate use. Level Two.

Showcase Gallery – Located in former Thalhimer’s
Reception Space and Link to Visual Arts. Orchestra Level. Level One.

Genworth Bright Lights Education Center – Located in former Thalhimer’s
Classrooms, teaching spaces and offices. Level Three.

The National Theatre

Broad Street – Richmond, Virginia

Renovation of 1920’s, 500 fixed seat movie theatre with orchestra and balcony seating. Converted into a music performance hall (rock & roll) with VIP rooms, offices, restaurant, gallery and retail spaces. All orchestra level seating area replaced with flat floor standing room for patrons. Balcony seating replaced with tiered dining areas.

The Imperial Centre

Rocky Mount, North Carolina

Renovation and adaptive reuse of the one-, two- and three-story Imperial Tobacco Warehouses and the old Braswell Library, plus a new Performing Arts Theatre. The Performing Arts Center completed the arts complex with a new 300-seat proscenium theatre, scene shop, costume shop, other production facilities and loading dock. A new entrance to the center includes an atrium and lobby to greet and direct visitors. The old Braswell Library was renovated for the Education Center and includes a black-box theatre. A common plaza united these three structures.

Colonial Theatre – Renovation

South Hill, Virginia

Vaudeville and Movie Theatre – 1920’s era. Repair and replacement of severely deteriorated roof and floor structures due to moisture and termite damage. Theatre renovated to house a performing arts theatre, welcome center, office and a business resource center.

Altria Theater - Renovation

(formerly Landmark Theater)
Richmond, Virginia

Renovation of an historic structure built in 1927. Lobby, Auditorium and seating and support spaces. The facility has been used primarily for plays, operas, symphony and ballet. 3,667 seating capacity.

VT – Henderson Hall / Theatre 101 – Renovation + Addition

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University – Blacksburg, Virginia

Renovation of 1870’s building to house several fine arts departments plus addition of 8,000 SF Black Box Theatre.

JMU – Music Building

James Madison University – Harrisonburg, Virginia

50,000 SF music Laboratory building consisting of rehearsal halls, recital halls, classrooms, performance areas, a sound studio, and administrative space. The classrooms have the capability to be acoustically tuned for one, four or 200 students.
